Das Lernen mit Smartphones und Tablet-PCs stellt eine Steigerungsstufe des CBL (computer dependent studying) dar und wird immer mehr auf kleineren und leistungsfähigeren Endgeräten möglich. Mobiles Lernen soll auf keinen Fall den klassischen Unterricht ersetzen, sondern ihn viel mehr sinnvoll unterstützen und erweitern. Mobilität beim Lernen ist mit Zeitersparnis und erhöhter Flexibilität durch Loslösung von Ort und Zeit gleichzusetzen.
Um die Vorteile, Möglichkeiten und Chancen des mobilen Lernens nutzen zu können, ist seitens der Lehrerinnen und Lehrer eine entsprechende Medienkompetenz, bezüglich Smartphones und Tablet-PCs, gefragt.

Welche Einteilung, bezüglich der Medienkompetenz von mobilen Medien, wie Smartphones und Tablet-PCs, kann bei den oberösterreichischen Lehrkräften getroffen werden?
Fühlen sich die Lehrpersonen für die neuen Geräte kundig oder fehlen ihnen die nötigen Kompetenzen? Haben sie schon Pläne und Ideen für den zukünftigen didaktischen Einsatz dieser mobilen Medien oder ist die digitale Kluft zu ihren Schülerinnen und Schülern doch unüberwindbar?

Im Rahmen dieser Masterthesis werden zunächst die Begriffe der Medienpädagogik und Mediendidaktik, im Zusammenhang mit mobilen Medien, näher betrachtet. Dabei wird auch der geschichtlichen Entwicklung und den zukünftigen Perspektiven dieser Technologien Rechnung getragen.
In weiterer Folge erfolgt die theoretische Auseinandersetzung mit den verschiedenen Definitionen von Medienkompetenz. Motivation hierfür battle die uneinheitliche Interpretation dieses Begriffes.
Der theoretische Teil schließt mit einer Studien- und Projekterhebung für Österreich ab.

Für die Forschung wurden verschiedene Clusteranalyseverfahren in mehreren Stufen eingesetzt, um zu den Ergebnissen zu gelangen. Aufgrund dieses Datenmaterials wurden entsprechende Analysen mit deskriptiven Verfahren und Interpretationen ausgeführt. Dies ermöglichte eine Aussage betreffend der Medienkompetenzausrichtung oberösterreichischer Lehrkräfte.
Abschließend erfolgte ein zusammenfassender Rückblick auf die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse dieser Arbeit.
